Abstract

Objective: To examine the current context of older adults, their quality of life, and the aging process, addressing various high-impact issues affecting this population. Methodology: A narrative review of the literature was conducted, focusing on the analysis of relevant themes related to aging and the quality of life of older adults. Results: Multiple factors influencing the quality of life of older adults were identified, including brain plasticity, cognitive decline, economic income level, low educational attainment, mental health disorders, abuse, and communication gaps. These issues highlight the complexity of the aging process and its impact on the overall well-being of this population. Conclusion: The findings underscore the need to strengthen health prevention and promotion approaches through new educational initiatives that complement and reinforce ministerial programs aimed at older adults, in order to improve their quality of life and comprehensively address the challenges of aging.
